Penmanship a lost art?
Need to contact someone? Easily done by just
sending an email,
technology makes things almost a little too simple for us. There is that
feeling knowing that someone took the time out of their day just to handwrite a
letter for you whether it be just to see how you been, wishing you a happy
birthday or something simple as sending a postcard from places where you
traveled. The thing is now you can do that with minimal effort. One major
difference between email and postal service is speed. Speed is so important to
many people, if you are looking to get a letter with pictures you are looking
for to about a week-long wait, unless pay extra for it to be mailed within two
days. With email on the other hand you are looking at mere seconds from the
moment you hit send to the time it takes to reach your recipient. Which is
important if you are trying to contact someone that lives either across the
world or across the country. Another thing about email is that you lose the
personal touch that you would get from a handwritten letter. Anyone on an email
can change their font but is not that special but when you write a letter you
have your own font, cursive a type of penmanship is slowly becoming a lost art.
Penmanship may be insignificant to some people but to others they might have a
special connection seeing a certain handwriting style that could belong to someone
meaningful. So how many of us can write in cursive? When was the last time you
wrote a letter? Will handwritten letters come to an end? Will it slowly be
replaced with a printer that can make letters look handwritten?
